Ingredients matter.
Body scrubs help exfoliate skin and rehydrate underlying skin. That said, knowing the ingredients that enter your body's largest organ, your skin, is extremely important.
We believe that fewer are better, and high quality is best. That explains why our ingredient list is short. It has no parabens, sulfates, fillers, synthetic fragrances, preservatives, artificial colors or any other nasty stuff.
Our primary ingredient is pure coconut oil, derived from organically grown coconuts found in the mountains of the Philippines. We selected it over others because, as the important base of Beauty Beads, it needed to be free of additives, absorb easily, moisturize without feeling greasy, support the skin's natural chemical balance, and offer powerful anti-oxidant qualities for long shelf life. We avoided the mass-produced kind found in most other body-care products in favor of traditional techniques still employed by the family-owned businesses that honor the past in its product -- a natural, chemical-free oil that meets strict European and USDA organic standards.
And why did we use sugar versus salt? We like sugar because it dissolves readily in hot water -- making it less abrasive than salt -- and works well on all skin types. Sugar scrubs are best suited for frequent use and can usually be used on the face.
What's that smell?
Did you know that a product's fragrance is considered a trade secret, so companies are not required to list those ingredients? Even unscented products can contain hundreds of chemicals to mask the odor of other ingredients.
Beauty Beads scrubs are only scented with therapeutic-grade essential oils. And, in the case of our coconut flavor, its scent comes from the natural aroma of virgin coconut oil.
